How To Hack Happiness: Apply The 80/20 rule to every part of your life.

Would you like to increase your happiness, reduce stress, and reclaim your time- without doing more?

Welcome to the 80/20 Principle, also known as the Pareto Principle.

What is the 80/20 Principle?

Basically, it states that 80% of outcomes come from 20% of causes. A small fraction of your actions, choices, and habits are driving the majority of your result - good and bad.

So how can we use the 80/20 principle to hack happiness?

Let’s break it down.

Example- Career: Do more of what fulfills you.

  • Identify 20% of tasks you love doing at work.

  • What do you enjoy doing? What makes time fly by? How can you spend more time in this area? How can you add more joy to your workday (go for a walk on your lunch break, enjoy lunch with a friend, listen to music while working, etc.?

  • Next, look at the 80% you dislike.

  • What do you hate working on? What drains you?

  • What about habits? What habits have the biggest positive effect on your career?

  • What habits have the most negative effect on your work?

Action step: Is there anything you can delegate? Delete those negative habits and commit to adding more joy today.
