What is the 80/20 Principle?
Basically, it states that 80% of outcomes come from 20% of causes. A small fraction of your actions, choices, and habits are driving the majority of your result - good and bad.
So how can we use the 80/20 principle to hack happiness?
Let’s break it down.
Example- Career: Do more of what fulfills you.
Identify 20% of tasks you love doing at work.
What do you enjoy doing? What makes time fly by? How can you spend more time in this area? How can you add more joy to your workday (go for a walk on your lunch break, enjoy lunch with a friend, listen to music while working, etc.?
Next, look at the 80% you dislike.
What do you hate working on? What drains you?
What about habits? What habits have the biggest positive effect on your career?
What habits have the most negative effect on your work?
Action step: Is there anything you can delegate? Delete those negative habits and commit to adding more joy today.
